Saucony running shoes – lineup
The Saucony Hurricane 24 is one of the brand’s top models and offers the highest level of cushioning among everyday running shoes. Similar to the Saucony Triumph, it is designed for runners weighing up to approximately 100 kilograms. However, the Hurricane provides a more stable feel, making it slightly stiffer. In contrast, the Triumph offers a softer, springier feel.

Cushioning and stability midsole
The Saucony Hurricane 24’s midsole features an advanced construction based on two types of foam: the innovative, resilient PWRRUN PB and the more rigid, stable PWRRUN. The bottom layer is made of a harder material and plays a key role in ensuring stability. This creates a frame for the midsole that effectively limits excessive side-to-side tilting of the foot, providing stability and confidence during long runs.

Additionally, the medial side has more rigid foam, creating a stabilizing block. This feature counteracts overpronation and prevents ankle valgus, making the Hurricane an excellent choice for runners who need foot support. Thanks to this design, the shoe provides excellent cushioning and high stability, ensuring not only a comfortable run, but a safe one as well.
The Saucony Hurricane 24 midsole is impressively thick — 38 millimeters in the rear and 32 millimeters in the front — which translates to a 6-millimeter drop. This is slightly less than the standard 8–10 mm drop, but people without Achilles tendon or plantar fasciitis problems should not find this difference challenging.
This stack, though high, is often found in models designed for maximum softness. At the same time, despite the high midsole, the shoe is well balanced in terms of stability. There is not too much “pudding-like” softness that could affect stability. This is especially important for heavier runners, up to 100 kg, who need a combination of protection and stability while running.

Urban outsole
The Saucony Hurricane 24’s outsole is a classic design used by this brand — quite minimalist and not very aggressive. The 0.9-millimeter-deep rubber elements indicate its typical asphalt character. Rubber covers only the most abrasion-prone areas of the midsole, and the shock-absorbing foam is visible elsewhere.
This design reduces the shoe’s weight and makes the outsole best suited for hard surfaces, such as asphalt, sidewalks, and compacted park trails. However, traction may be slightly limited on wet, uneven, or loose surfaces, so the Hurricane 24 is primarily ideal for running on urban routes.

The upper is not as wide as it might seem
The Saucony Hurricane 24’s advanced engineered mesh upper makes it breathable and comfortable, even during longer runs. This lightweight, moderately flexible material adapts well to the foot. Additionally, the front of the shoe features a seamless construction, which is standard in this class of shoes, to minimize the risk of chafing and irritation.

The Saucony Hurricane 24 has a snug fit due to its limited interior space. At its widest point, the width of the upper is 103.6 mm, placing it slightly below the average width for this category of shoes. While the Hurricane may appear spacious, the front and middle are moderately wide, making it suitable for runners with standard or narrow feet. This design also provides better foot support, which is important in stability shoes.
The heel counter of the Saucony Hurricane 24 is a natural extension of the stabilizing midsole construction. The slightly raised foam edges blend seamlessly with the stiffened rear of the shoe to create a solid structure that keeps the heel in check and prevents uncontrolled sideways movement. Additionally, the inside of the heel counter is generously padded with soft foam that cradles the foot, providing exceptional comfort. This design keeps the heel securely in place, ensuring every step is confident and smooth.

Heavyweight
According to the manufacturer, the men’s Saucony Hurricane 24 weighs 302 grams, while the women’s weighs 280 grams. For size 12 US, the weight increases to 376 grams, making it a fairly heavy running shoe.
Even among the most cushioned stability shoes, the Hurricane 24 ranks in the top 26% of the heaviest models. Compared to all asphalt training shoes, it ranks in the top 9% heaviest. However, this weight is justified by its construction — stability and safety are prioritized over an ultra-lightweight design. Nevertheless, it’s worth bearing in mind that the Hurricane 24 is one of the heaviest shoes on the market.

Summary
The Saucony Hurricane 24 is an excellent choice for overpronators who prefer maximum cushioning and exceptional stability for safe, comfortable running on hard surfaces. Its well-fitting upper, solid heel support, and balanced midsole provide support for heavier runners. However, its relatively high weight and slightly narrower design may not appeal to everyone.
