The Asics GT-2000 14 is a stability training shoe designed for runners with slight overpronation or for those who need slightly more stability. This updated version offers several minor improvements. These include FF Blast Max foam, which provides a soft yet responsive feel. The new, thinner upper is also notable. While these are positive changes, the new GT-2000 14 does not stand out. It is a safe choice for runners who prefer support with a bit of bounce underfoot.

Purpose
The Asics GT-2000 14 is an everyday training running shoe with high-level cushioning. It’s designed for easy miles on hard surfaces. While it performs best on hard surfaces and sidewalks, it can also handle compacted forest trails and gravel with ease. This versatile model has built-in stability and is mainly designed for runners with overpronation. Thanks to its high level of comfort and support, however, it can also be an excellent choice for people with neutral feet who want extra control while running.

Pros
- very good cushioning, but not excessive
- suitable for runners weighing up to 90 kilograms
- light stabilization of overpronation
- wide and stable midsole construction
- breathable upper
- lightweight for a shoe with stabilization (among the 26% lightest)
Cons
- less rubber may mean less durable midsoles
- and may not provide enough support for severe overpronation

Asics Running Shoes – Lineup
The GT-2000 is one of the cornerstones of the Asics training collection. The lineup includes six key models: three stability models and three neutral models. Each differs in the level of cushioning. The GT-2000 is a stabilizing shoe with high cushioning, though not the highest in the collection. If maximum softness and protection are your priorities, the Gel-Kayano is the way to go.

Similar to Asics GT-2000 14
The Asics GT-2000 is one of the most recognizable and respected models in the stability shoe category. A classic, it consistently maintains its position by offering runners support for overpronation without sacrificing comfort and cushioning.
Although the market trend has shifted towards more neutral shoes in recent years, many producers still offer models designed specifically for pronators. If you are wondering which stability models are worth considering for your next pair of shoes, check out our detailed shoe guide.

Plush, But Controlled – GT-2000 14 Cushioning
The Asics GT-2000 14’s midsole combines two key cushioning technologies. The base is made of FF Blast MAX foam, which offers lightweight, springy, and comfortable cushioning from heel to toe. Under the heel, in the central part, there is a PureGEL insert that improves shock absorption during landing. This feature makes the shoe particularly suitable for slower runners who land on their heels at the beginning of their stride. However, for slightly faster runners who prefer a more dynamic experience, this may not be the best choice. Although the midsole is comfortable, it lacks a “rocker,” which is a profile that supports faster running.

The stack height of the Asics GT-2000 14 remains unchanged from the previous version. It measures 36.5 mm at the heel and 28.5 mm at the forefoot for an 8 mm drop. This construction provides a high level of cushioning that perfectly absorbs shock upon landing, improving the comfort of the entire workout.
While the cushioning is noticeable and soft, it is not as “fluffy” as in top ASICS models, such as the Gel-Nimbus or Gel-Kayano, which have midsole thicknesses of several millimeters. Consequently, the GT-2000 14 strikes a balance between protection, control, and stability, making it an excellent choice for runners seeking ample support without excessive softness. This midsole construction makes the shoe most effective for runners weighing up to about 90 kg.

Support You Feel, Not Fight
The GT-2000 13 provides stability through its 3D Guidance System, which features an extended midsole construction. This system operates in three dimensions—width, length, and height—to provide overpronators with subtle adjustments while enhancing overall stability and control during your run.
Unlike many other stabilization systems, the GT-2000 does not have a rigid element on the medial side of the midsole. This makes the stabilization very subtle and does not restrict foot movement. However, this also means that the shoe is not the best choice for people with severe overpronation who need more control. However, it will be an excellent solution for runners looking for extra support without aggressive interference with the foot’s natural movement. The Asics GT-2000 14 is also an excellent choice for neutral runners looking for a stable shoe.

Urban, Slimmed-Down Outsole
The GT-2000 14’s outsole is made of durable AHAR+ rubber, providing the standard level of grip expected from asphalt models. Its layout is similar to the Novablast series — it has less rubber and a shallower, smoother design. While this construction reduces the shoe’s weight and improves the midsole’s flexibility, the reduced rubber may shorten the outsole’s lifespan. For a training shoe designed to last 1,000–1,500 kilometers, this can be an important factor.
The grooves are a maximum depth of 1.0 mm, providing optimal traction on urban surfaces, such as hard surfaces, sidewalks, and compacted dirt roads. The shoe can handle hard gravel paths outside the city but is not designed for more demanding, technical terrain.

Airier Feel, Faster Stride
The upper of the GT-2000 14 is made of an entirely different material than the previous version. It is moderately thick but significantly thinner than most everyday running shoes. The outer layer is slightly perforated to improve ventilation. Its material structure is similar to that of the Novablast 4 and 5. This is the second similarity with this line of shoes, after the texture of the outsole.
The interior of the shoe has a bit more space, though it remains within the standard width. At its widest point, the midsole measures 104.8 mm, similar to typical training shoes for hard surfaces. For most runners, this amount of space will be sufficient.
The GT-2000 13’s heel counter has been stripped of the protruding, backward-curved “tail,” but its construction has been suitably stiffened. Inside the rear of the shoe is a traditional plastic clip that stabilizes the heel and limits sideways movement while running. Combined with a properly contoured midsole, this provides solid rearfoot support and stable guidance. This feature provides the GT-2000 with a high level of rearfoot stability.

Lighter Than Most in Its Class
According to the manufacturer, the men’s GT-2000 13 weighs 273 grams, while the women’s version weighs 239 grams. This difference is negligible and cannot be felt in practice. For my size, US 12, the men’s model weighs 329 grams, only 1 gram more than the size 12. Taking possible measurement errors into account, it is safe to say that the GT-2000 14 weighs practically the same as the GT-2000 13.
This result is typical for training shoes and slightly below average for stability shoes. With this weight, the GT-2000 13 is one of the lightest training shoes that support pronators.

Final Thoughts
The Asics GT-2000 14 is a versatile training shoe that provides stability and combines high cushioning with subtle, light foot control. It provides a comfortable running experience, particularly for heel strikers, while maintaining subtle dynamics. Its gentle stabilization does not interfere with natural movement, making it suitable for both pronators and neutral runners. The new GT-2000 14 also borrows some features from the Novablast line, emphasizing its slightly more dynamic character.
