When you think of trail shoes, you probably think of Salomon. And while they make a ton of trail shoes, they also make some awesome road shoes. Regardless of your preferred terrain or distance, Salomon has the right solution for you. They have shoes for easy training runs in the park and for running on the most challenging terrain.
Salomon running shoe categories
Trail running in Salomon can be divided into several categories. One of these is the classification of shoes according to their purpose and type of running. The producer distinguishes the following segments:
- PACE – dynamic trail shoes designed for fast starts on both rocky (Pulsar family) and muddy (Cross family) trails
- SUPPORT – safe and stable shoes for difficult, rough terrain, making you feel confident on any surface
- COMFORT – shoes focused on comfort, suitable for everything from everyday training in the field to ultra runs, offering the best cushioning and isolation from difficult terrain.
However, this is not the only classification, as the producer also classifies running shoes according to their level of advancement. In this way, we distinguish between:
- S/LAB – Salomon Laboratory is the most advanced line, designed for those who seek uncompromising solutions and functionality. It is the premium line in the Salomon lineup.
- PERFORMANCE AND RACING – professional products suitable for runners of all levels. They work well both during training and competition.
- OCCASIONAL TRAINING – models designed for occasional runners who do not run on very difficult terrain.
- RECREATIONAL TRAINING – ideal for those who run the least and demand the least from their shoes.
The table below shows which models belong to each group:

It is also one of Salomon’s widest trail shoes, designed for people with wider feet. The extra width may result in a slightly poorer fit, and the shoe is better suited to runners who run less intensively but expect a lot of grip from their shoes.

The Salomon S/Lab Genesis is one of Salomon’s best-cushioned models designed for trail running. It can be used in a wide range of conditions, from trail paths and mountain trails to off-road terrain. Although it is mainly intended for ultramarathon runners, slower runners can also enjoy its comfort and safety. It is also one of the most stable models, using the ActiveChassis stabilization system, which can be particularly important on very technical trails. The upper, made of Matrix material, is responsible for breathability and durability. This is a shoe that offers exceptional protection and comfort, regardless of the terrain you are covering.
