Dreamstrike+ Foam Delivers Solid Cushioning
Similar to the previous model, the Supernova Rise 2 features several midsole solutions.
The top layer of the midsole is made of Dreamstrike+ foam and is closest to the foot. This layer is responsible for the shoe’s softness and noticeable cushioning effect. Dreamstrike+, a new foam in the adidas lineup made of PEBA, is way better at cushioning and responsiveness than previous solutions based on a mix of Boost and EVA. This foam is what makes the shoe so comfortable. We have to say, the new Supernova is comfortable with every step.
The second part of the midsole resembles “rods” and is inspired by the carbon elements of the Energy Rods from the Adizero line. This part of the midsole is made of TPEE engineering elastomer. It is more rigid, acting as a plate that supports the dynamics of running. Does it actually fulfill this role? It’s hard to say for sure. The Supernova is a pleasant training shoe that works well for both easy runs and slightly faster sections without causing any noticeable discomfort.

The stack height, or the height of the midsole, is 36 millimeters in the rear and 26 millimeters in the front, similar to the previous model. These values are slightly above average compared to competing models but standard for shoes with this level of cushioning. The thickness of the midsole itself provides decent comfort and protection when running on hard surfaces.
However, this is not a shoe for the heaviest runners. The Supenova Rise 2 is ideal for runners weighing up to about 90 kilograms. For these runners, it will be an excellent everyday training shoe in urban and suburban conditions. They also offer a high level of comfort and softness, making them an ideal choice for everyday running. It is exactly what a versatile training shoe should be – reliable, comfortable, and confidence-inspiring during both long and short workouts.

Low-Profile Grip with Adiwear
The Supernova Rise 2 has a low, subtle outsole with a typically urban, non-aggressive structure. It is ideal for running on hard surfaces, sidewalks, and local recreational trails. If you don’t plan on running on demanding terrain but rather in a park or on gravel forest roads, this outsole will suffice. Although its height is only about 0.8 millimeters, it provides sufficient traction for safe running in such conditions.
Improved AdiWear rubber has been used here and also performs well. AdiWear rubber provides satisfactory grip and performs well in urban conditions. It’s worth noting that the rubber layer is thick and evenly distributed across the entire midsole – the front, middle, and rear of the shoe. This should ensure greater durability, though it also depends on your running technique.

Engineered Mesh Upper for Breathable Support
The upper of the Supernova Rise 2 is made of a material similar to that of the previous model. According to the manufacturer, it is a technical mesh, a standard material for running shoes. The mesh provides moderate ventilation and a good fit, meeting current running shoe standards.
The wide front characteristic of the previous model has been retained, though the shoe is not quite as wide. The width of the upper at its widest point is 106.0 millimeters. This makes the Rise 2 slightly narrower than its predecessor. Nevertheless, it remains slightly wider than average for running shoes of this size. Therefore, there is a little more space for the toes than in competing models. That’s what the numbers show.

In addition to width, the shape of the shoe is important too, and this one is quite slim. There is a significantly better fit in the midfoot area without excess. This design should suit most runners because it provides space in the forefoot and a snug fit in the midfoot. The Supernova Rise model’s upper features a soft tongue that is integrated into the shoe’s construction. This design ensures a better fit and prevents the tongue from shifting sideways while running. Consequently, the shoe fits more securely and remains stable, even during intense movement.
However, people with high arches may experience some discomfort due to the limited space in the upper part of the shoe. As always, it is essential to try on shoes before purchasing them to ensure the fit is right for your foot. The fit of running shoes is subjective and depends on many factors, so pay attention to comfort when trying on a model for the first time.
The heel counter is made the classic way with a stiff, wedge-shaped clip inside. The inside of the heel counter and the upper part of the outer collar are generously padded with soft foam, making them very comfortable and providing good heel support. The rear part of the shoe is stable, and the entire construction is solid – the heel is well supported and does not move while running.

Lightweight for a Daily Trainer
According to the manufacturer, the men’s version weighs 275 grams, while the women’s version weighs 230 grams. This is a slight, yet noticeable, reduction in weight compared to its predecessor. For size 12 US, the shoe weighs 312 grams. That’s 10 grams less than the previous edition. While the change is small, this model is still below the average weight of a training shoe, which is 338 grams.
This means that the Supernova Rise is a lighter-than-average shoe. Compared to other shoes in this category, it ranks in the top 18% of the lightest training models designed for hard surfaces. It’s worth considering if you’re looking for a lighter everyday running shoe for hard surfaces.
Final Thoughts
The adidas Supernova Rise 2 is very similar to its predecessor, with minor changes in construction that make it slightly lighter. Thanks to its Dreamstrike+ foam and foam rods, the shoe provides solid cushioning and comfort, as well as decent dynamics on hard surfaces. It’s an interesting choice for runners looking for a versatile, slightly lighter training shoe for everyday runs.
